Easy mowing, watering, fertilizing, pest management techniques will all be covered. We will focus on maintaining existing lawns but also speak on proper grass selection for your area; a key to your success.
May: Bamboo Basics

Learn trade secrets from Kevin Mulkern, certified landscape contractor and nurseryman. Listen to Kevin’s talk and ask your own questions. Topics will include identifying common bamboo, selecting the right bamboo for your area, bamboo care and more.
June: Pruning Basics

Learn the basics of pruning with a landscape professional. This class will cover how to prune small trees, shrubs, bamboo, tropical plants and more. Learn how to check for dead wood and what a collar cut is.
July: Fun In Mud – A Fundraiser for Honolulu Botanical Gardens
Saturday July 27 10AM
Learn about the care, feeding and propagation of water lilies. Discover the secrets to creating and maintaining a balanced water garden. Wear old shoes as this field trip can be quite muddy. August: Sprinkler Troubleshooting

Sprinkler problems have you under water? Water bill out of sight? At this workshop you’ll learn how to figure out many common problems and fix them (or have us do it for you!), what routine maintenance can do to make your yard greener, save you money and make your life easier.
September: Healthy Soil Workshop

Take the first step toward a beautiful landscape by establishing healthy soil with licensed landscape contractor Kevin Mulkern. This workshop covers basic information about soil, mulch, compost, fertilizer and allows time for questions.
October: Landscape Lighting Design Concepts

Landscape contractor and nurseryman Kevin Mulkern will light up your holidays with his next workshop – Bright Ideas for Landscape Lighting. The holidays are always full of family and friends, parties and dinners. Now is the time to set up outdoor lighting to wow your guests. Workshop will cover getting started, creating focal points, lighting for safety & security, equipment tips and common mistakes.
November: How to use Fertilizers
Saturday November 23 10AM
Plants need vitamins too. Learn some simple steps for getting your plants the right nutrients. Kevin Mulkern will discuss which fertilizers to use on what plants and how much to use. He will also tell you the signs of nutrient deficiencies in plants and how to fix them.
